Osaka University of Tourism has its campus located in a place called “Senshu”, in the Southern part of the Osaka Prefecture which is in the central area of Honshu, Japan.

It is an excellent location for learning tourism, being in a good access point for many foreign tourists who wish to visit not only the Osaka City Center, but also Kyoto City and Kobe City, as well as being very near the doorway to Western Japan which is “Kansai International Airport”.

What is more, Osaka University of Tourism is nestled in a wonderful natural environment nearby to castles and temples, in an area rich with traditional festivals. Added to that the convenient shopping malls make it an easy place to live an ideal environment in which to carry out your studies.

In Osaka City Center and Kyoto or Nara, there are so many famous sightseeing locations nearby us! If you utilize the LCC taking off from Kansai International airport you can have almost instant access to any area in Japan with just one flight.

The Senshu Region in which the campus is situated has many traditional spots and festivals. Why don’t you go out on your day off and get the feeling of Japan.

    KISHIWADA CASTLE

    This is a castled that the citizens of Kishiwada City, Osaka Prefecture love. The current day ”Tenshukaku” was rebuilt in 1954, but it is said that Kishiwada Castle first came into existence in approximately 1334~1336 AD being constructed by Masashige Kusunoki and Takaie Nigita In spring the cherry blossoms around the castle come into bloom and you can see its beautiful scenery.

    MIZUMA TEMPLE

    Mizuma Temple is located in Kaizuka City of Osaka Prefecture, and is a special head temple of the Tendai Sect that has a history that goes back as far as the open mine starting in 744 AD. From ancient times it has been well reputed as a temple that wards off bad luck, and is popular being call “Mizuma Kan’non” or “Kan’non Warding off bad luck”. However it is not only famous for warding off bad luck, it is also known as a power spot for people looking to have good relationships.

    INUNAKISAN SHIPPORYU TEMPLE

    The Inunakisan Temple in amongst the pristine forests up in the middle of Mount Izumikatsuragi, is on the main mountain of the Inunaki Sect of the Shingon Religion. Established in 661 AD by its founding practitioners, it is the oldest sacred place in Japan. The “Followers Waterfall” inside the temple grounds is said to give spiritual strength and people visit it from all locations around Japan. The temple offers people who visit a “followers” waterfall experience.

    THE DANJIRI FESTIVAL

    Starting in Kumatori Village and circling back around through Senshu area, the “Danjiri Festival” is celebrated in all local areas. It is famous throughout the country for it’s incredibly sharp turns, but the colorful sculptures and lanterns which adorn and light up the “Danjiri” give yet a different attractiveness when compared to the brave figures of the men pulling it.

    THE SENSHU YOSAKOI “EE-JANAIKA” FESTIVAL

    Local area and folk songs arranged to music are danced to in the “Yosakoi” Style. This is The Senshu Yosakai “ee-Janaika” festival where “production, mingling and emotions” are performed. About 100 teams comprising 5000 dancers draw large crowds of spectators every year.
